Albuquerque resident Rick Gabaldon has found a unique way to honor American veterans by transforming his home into a permanent patriotic display, replacing traditional roof shingles with a striking American flag design.

Located near Central and Yucca, Gabaldon’s house now features a roof adorned with two American flags, making his commitment to patriotism a permanent fixture.

“I consider myself very patriotic. My home and garage are filled with flags,” Gabaldon shared.

“It’s a way to show our pride every day without needing to raise a flag,” he explained.

The unique “American Flag House” has garnered positive reactions from neighbors, many of whom have started displaying their own flags in solidarity.

“People in the neighborhood really appreciate it. Some have even put up their own flags,” Gabaldon noted.

Gabaldon dedicated this grand patriotic gesture to honor all veterans, especially his father, a World War II veteran, and his father-in-law, who served in the Korean War.

“My dad and my wife’s dad both served in the military, so we did this to honor all veterans,” he said.

Gabaldon welcomes visitors who stop to admire and photograph his home but asks that they respect his property and his neighbors.

“I often play basketball with my grandson outside, and people frequently stop to take pictures and ask questions,” he added.
