Kevin Willard joined the University of Maryland in March 2022 as head coach of the men’s basketball program.

Under his leadership, the Pirates secured a Big East Tournament title and a regular-season championship.
Willard’s Seton Hall teams earned seven 20-win seasons, including six in his final seven years.



His squads finished in the Big East’s top four six times and ranked in the AP Top 25 during five of his last eight seasons.
In the 2019–20 season, his team peaked at No. 8 nationally.
From 2018 to 2022, he accumulated 26 NET Quad 1 wins, placing him among the top 15 coaches in the nation in that span.
His coaching accolades include USBWA District II Coach of the Year (2020), NABC District 5 Coach of the Year (2019), and Big East Coach of the Year (2016).



He received the Peter A. Carlesimo Metropolitan Coach of the Year award three times and was named one of Forbes’ Top 10 NCAA Coaches for the Next 10 Years in 2017.
Off the court, his teams claimed five straight NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and multiple NCAA Academic Progress Rate honors.
